Suggestions For Your First Aid kits

First-aid kits: Stock supplies that can save lives

A well-stocked first-aid kit can help you respond effectively to common injuries and emergencies. Keep at least one first-aid kit in your home and one in your car. Store your kits someplace easy to get to and out of the reach of young children. Make sure children old enough to understand the purpose of the kits know where they're stored.
You can buy first-aid kits at many drugstores or assemble your own. You may want to tailor your kit based on your activities and needs. A basic first-aid kit includes:

Basic supplies

  • Adhesive tape
  • Elastic wrap bandages
  • Bandage strips and "butterfly" bandages in assorted sizes
  • Nonstick sterile bandages and roller gauze in assorted sizes
  • Eye shield or pad
  • Triangular bandage

  • Personal medications that don't need refrigeration
  • Auto-injector of epinephrine, if prescribed by your doctor

Emergency items

  • Medical consent forms for each family member
  • Medical history forms for each family member
  • Small, waterproof flashlight or headlamp and extra batteries
  • Waterproof matches
  • Small notepad and waterproof writing instrument

What Garden Vegetables seeds Do I Use?

I have gotten alot of emails asking me what seeds do I use when planting my own garden.

The three top reason I picked this company to buy my seeds from are as followed.

1) The vegetable seed are 100 % non GMO.

2) The seeds are all packaged in a triple-layered,resealable,reusable mylar packets designed to significaly increase the shelf life and viability of the seeds. That makes them a fantastic item to add you your prepping supplies as you can aslo buy seeds vaults.

3) The thrid reason is the customer service and how fast they are shiped out. Year after year I have used this company with fantastic results.

Feel free to check them out at MY Patriot Supply I am sure you will be pleased with the quality of there seeds. Happy Gardening everyone!

How to make a Windshield Shade Solar Funnel Oven

How to make a Windshield Shade Solar Funnel Oven

Materials needed:
A reflective accordion-folding car sunshade
A Cake rack (or wire frame or grill)
 (4 ½ in.) of Velcro
Black pot
Bucket or plastic wastebasket
A plastic baking oven bag
A oven thermometer
  1. Lay the sunshade out with the notched side toward you, as above.
  2. Cut the Velcro into three pieces, each about 1 ½ inches long.
  3. Hand sew one half of each piece, evenly spaced, onto the edge to the left of the notch; sew the matching half of each piece onto the underneath size to the right of the notch, so that they fit together when the two sides are brought together to form a funnel. (see below)  Note:  I first tried sewing these on a sewing machine, but found it cut through the reflective material.
  4. Press the Velcro pieces together, and set the funnel on top of a bucket or a round or rectangular plastic wastebasket.
  5. Place a black pot on top of a square cake rack, placed inside a plastic baking bag.  A standard size rack (10 in.).  This is placed inside the funnel, so that the rack rests on the top edges of the bucket or wastebasket.  Since the sunshade material is soft and flexible, the rack is necessary to support the pot.  It also allows the suns rays to shine down under the pot and reflect on all sides.  If such a rack is not available, a wire frame could be made to work as well.  Note: the flexible material will squash down around the sides of the rack.

The funnel can be tilted in the direction of the sun.
A stick placed across from one side of the funnel to the other helps to stabilize it in windy weather.
After cooking, simply fold up your “oven” and slip the elastic bands in place for easy travel or storage.
I have found this totally simple solar oven extremely practical, as it is so lightweight and easy to carry along anywhere.  But in addition, it has reached a higher temperature in a shorter time than all the other models I have experimented with so far. I was able to buy all of the things needed at the Dollar Tree keeping the cost for this solar funnel oven under six dollars.

Italian Parmesan Herb Mix

Italian Parmesan Herb Mix

"This came from my Southern Living magazine in an article about homemade food gifts for the holidays. I think nothing says love better than something homemade. It means you took time and thought into making someone a gift. Their suggestions for use are to toss with pasta, veggies, or popcorn, sprinkle over salads, mix with butter and baste hot baked bread with it, or use it in flour for breading chicken."

Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) containers grated parmesan cheese

3 tablespoons dried Italian seasoning

3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper

Directions

  1. Stir together all the ingredients. Package mixture in airtight containers and store in in a cool place or in the refrigerator.

5 c cornmeal
3-1/3 c white or brown sugar
1-1/3 c Powdered butter
1/4 c Powdered milk or buttermilk
1/2 c. egg white or whole egg powder
2-1/2 t baking soda
T baking powder
2- 1/2 t salt

Store in plastic container or ziplock bag in fridge or freezer until ready to use. Makes 14 cups of mix.
For a 9” x 9” pan of cornbread (we prefer in pan rather than as muffins — for some reason, tastes more moist), mix 3 cups of above mix with 1 cup of water. Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes. Great with honey butter!

HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP

How to Make A Homemade Mosquito Trap

HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP:

Items needed:

1 cup of water
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 teaspoon Yeast

2-liter plastic bottle

HOW:
1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.

2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.

3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.

4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.

5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)

Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.
